World Elite University Football Tournament 2018

Melbourne University Soccer Club are pleased to announce that the University of Melbourne will send a representative team to compete in the third Instalment of the World Elite University Football Tournament (WEUFT).

WEUFT is an international men’s full-squad football competition hosted by WEUFA. As the “World Cup” of universities, the purpose of the WEUFT is to promote university sport participation, and promote friendships among squad members of leading universities worldwide.

The second installment of WEUFT in June 2017, held at Tsinghua University was an overwhelming success. Twelve universities including University of Cambridge, Oxford University, Tsinghua University, Peking University, the University of Melbourne, Eberhard-Karls-Universitaet Tuebingen, University of British Columbia, the University of Southern California, Leiden Univerisity, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Renmin University of China, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology battled it out for the 2017 title with great enthusiasm.

The University of Melbourne has competed in the tournament the last two years, finishing as tournament runners up in 2016 and Quarter Finalists in 2017. After being hosted by Tsinghua University in Beijing for the last two years, Huazhong University of Science and Technology will host in the capital of the Hubei Province, Wuhan. Tournament will be between 12-25 July in the Semester break.

Open Trials for the team will occur for the next two weeks and will tie in with tirals/selections for the Varsity Challenge match against Monash on Wednesday 2nd May. You must be a currently enrolled student at the University of Melbourne to be considered:
