As the season draws to a conclusion there are some teams that will still need to be sharp and willing with the potential to bring home some silverware to add to our Women’s State 1 Reserve’s Title
Men’s State League 4 Reserve
Going into Round 22 in a competition where first past the post wins, Melbourne University State 4 Reserves (2nd) take on Northern Falcons (1st) where the title will be on the line. Despite a significantly better goal difference, MUSC will need to take all 3 points at the away fixture in order to overtake the Falcons. Uni have a strong history in the reserve squad, taking the title in 2016 and runners up on the final day in 2017.
Northern Falcons SC v Melbourne University Soccer Club
1pm Saturday 8th September
Hayes Park – Pitch 1
In Metro 1 the Blues have jumped past Old Scotch to make the final 4. However in their semi-final draw are up against a Strong St Kilda Soccer Club who took out the minor premiership by a substantive 11 points. Match details are still to be confirmed.
Our VicSoccer Teams were disappointed not to take away any titles, with Division 1 Reserves losing on the last match day of the season. However the competition also brings out the #magicofthecup for the competition knockout format. Having all 4 squads still in the round of 16, two teams have progressed to the quarter finals both in dramatic fashion.
Emeille’s squad at 0-0 in the 85th saved a penalty, only for the squad to sneak a winner in the dying seconds
Stu’s squad also progressed with late drama, in a tight encounter against PEG’s, after scoring in the 70th to go 2-1 up, pegs equalised in the 85th to send it to penalties. Watch the penalty shootout where it went the distance with MUSC winning 7-6 .
Cup Draw will occur tomorrow on the VicSoccer website
