I am a new player to MUSC, how do I join?

Melbourne University Soccer Club welcomes all new players during preseason (January-March). Please check out our preseason training shedule and you are more than welcome to attend. During the season positions are dependent on squad availability so it is recommended that you email mensenquiries@musc.com.au indicating if you are looking at playing in our more competitive teams or more social teams.

I am not a student at Melbourne University, can I still join?

Yes! In fact a huge proportion of our members have no previous background or affiliation with the university before joining. MUSC welcomes anyone and everyone to become a part of the club.

What are the training commitments?

Generally speaking, during the seasons our more competitive teams train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (with games on Saturdays) and our more social teams train on Wednesdays (with games on Sundays).

Our full training information will be updated on our Training Page.

If you are not sure if you want to commit to training throughout the year, we welcome you to still come down in preseason as many people with a similar mindset have grown to enjoy the format for the more social teams.

What are the fee's associated with joining?

Our current fee breakdown is located on our Registration Page alongside with a step by step instruction on how to register.

Am I covered for Insurance when playing with MUSC?

Is there scholarship opportunities when playing for MUSC?

Melbourne University Soccer Club as a member run club there are currently limited opportunities for scholarships through the club, however this is something we are endeavoring to work on. For more professional , Melbourne University offer sport scholarships to help support student-athletes, through the Elite Athlete Program.

In addition to these scholarships, the Elite Athlete Program has several other components that student-athletes may be eligible for, including:

  • Elite Athlete Entry Scheme (assisting applicants for admission to the University whose previous study has been impacted by elite level training, competition or performance).
  • Elite Athlete Recognition (providing flexible study assistance for recognised elite athletes, who due to their sporting endeavors, have extensive, yet inflexible, commitments that may interfere with their study).
  • International Travel Grants (for students selected to represent their country – including in underage teams – in overseas competition).

For more details, visit Melbourne University Sport’s Elite Athlete Program page.
