I am a new player, can I join?

Absolutely! We welcome and encourage new players to join during preseason.

How do I join?

If you would like to join, please email women@musc.com.au to let us know what level you would like to play at (competitive, social, beginner), and a little about your playing experience (don’t worry if you haven’t played before – we cater for beginners!). We will then let you know which sessions to attend.

I'm not a University of Melbourne student, can I still join?

Definitely! You don’t have to be a student to join the club. Many of our members are alumni and non-students.

What are the playing commitments?

Generally speaking, players are expected to train twice during the week and play one match at the weekend. You can find training information here. We expect players to commit to the full season.

When does the season start and end?

The season begins in April and ends in September. There is no break between university semesters, however there are several breaks throughout the season.

I'm an international student, can I join?

Yes! International students are welcome to join, even if you’re only here for one semester. Please note that half-year spots are limited – make sure you talk to a committee member at your first preseason session.

I last played overseas, do I need to do anything before I can play?

Yes! If you last played competitively outside of Australia, you are required to apply for an international clearance. We will help you with that! Please note that clearances can take up to 6 weeks to come through. We advise applying as soon as you start preseason – there’s no cost for a clearance! Make sure you talk to a committee member at your first preseason session about this.

How much does it cost to play?

Registration fees for 2018 are $320 for Melbourne University students, $376 for non-Melbourne University students, $400 for players over 35yrs, $430 for non-students, and $300 for players under 19yrs.

Who can I talk to if I have questions?

The committee – you can find us here! MUSC is a player-run club, where the committee members are volunteers. We’ll happily answer any questions you have at training. You can also contact us at women@musc.com.au
