Team of the Decade: Emily Johns
Welcome Emily “EmJ” Johns to our Women’s Team of the Decade!
Joining the club in 2014, Emily’s fast skills and defensive pressure were immediately apparent as she quickly established herself as a key player in the State 1 squad.
Quiet both in nature and on the field, many players can attest that you often never know when Emily is around until she’s taken the ball off you. A quick and skilful attacker, Emily’s innate sense of positioning easily forces the opposition into errors, resulting in many goals and assists during her time at the club. She has been one of the hardest-working and most competitive players at the club with her small stature belying her strength. A highly committed teammate, very rarely does she miss a training session or game.
Always present and reliable, Emily has adapted to playing many positions across the front line, from attacking midfield, to out wide. She has been a leader of the frontline pressure that came to define the state one team’s game in more recent seasons. Emily was a key player in the 2015 season and Grand Final win, and a constant in the incredibly high performing forward lines in the successful 2017 and 2019 seasons.
Emily has been a lovely teammate for many years and hopefully will be for many more to come. Congrats EmJ!
