Women’s Varsity make Uni Oval debut

Tomorrow night will see The University of Melbourne’s women’s representative varsity football team match up against Monash University for the annual Big Blue match of the Varsity Challenge.

The University Oval is the iconic on campus field feature the state of the art Ernie Cropley Pavilion. In 2017 Melbourne University Soccer Club celebrated our 70th Anniversary first ever Club fixtures on the oval, and more recently hosted the women’s Intercollegiate finals. This match will cap off the number of first with our first women’s inter varsity match to be played on Melbourne’s Parkville campus.

After the first two matches in 2014 & ’15 was won by Monash, Melbourne women’s Football has gone on to win the last three ties in 2016, ’17 & ’18, leading 3-2. The squad is made up of Club and other members, studying a variety of degrees including six Bachelor of Science students.
